Last Thursday I was invited to attend Goodwill Industries of the Valleys Second Runway Fashion Show at the Jefferson Center in downtown Roanoke. This event was filled with silent auctions, a Goodwill Boutique on-site, vendors, live music, great people, and of course a fashion show showcasing outfits right off the racks of the local Goodwill Stores!
Second Runway truly celebrated what Goodwill is all about, giving second chances to not only unused clothing, but second chances in people's lives. Goodwill provides jobs and support that many people aren't aware of that changes people's lives for the better. Goodwill is truly a 'Good' thing.
I look forward to attending Second Runway again next year. I think if they could add anything to the Second Runway show next year, they should invite local fashion design students for a "redesign" segment, putting their creativity to work by letting them alter clothing found at the Goodwill into tailored, fashion forward outfits. I think that would be really cool. What do you think, Goodwill of the Valleys?
Check back over the next two days to see photos from the Runway show.
Angel, we think having local fashion design students being creative with clothing found at our stores is a wonderful idea! We will definitely add that to our idea bank.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for joining us at Second Runway! We loved having you there and appreciate your support and kind words.
